2019 Oakdene Kristen Sparkling Blanc de Blancs

Appearance
Very pale straw.

Bouquet
Lemon, grapefruit, white stone fruit, lifted toasted almond, brioche notes and yeast aged characters.

Palate
Fine persistent mousse, pithy apple peel and citrus. Fine creamy mid palate texture, firm acidity, very dry and long refreshing finish.

Fermentation
Fruit was harvested early to retain acidity and allow long term aging on yeast lees. The wine is a dry (or brut) style made from 100% Chardonnay made in the “traditional method”, where the secondary ferment takes place in bottle. The wine is left to ferment and age on lees for 38 months before hand riddling, disgorging, corking and finished with a measured dosage (still wine and sugar addition) to balance the wine and fill out the palate.

Conclusion
A dry aperitif style, to be enjoyed chilled with or without food.

RATINGS & REVIEWS

2023 Geelong Wine Show
Provincial Media Trophy, Best Sparkling

97 points, & Special Value Red Star, Philip Rich, Halliday Wine Companion - 'Made from 100% chardonnay and aged on lees for 36 months before being disgorged; 2g/L dosage. A very bright green gold. Another excellent Oakdene Blanc de Blancs. Vibrant from the first with its bouquet of lemon confit, white flowers, clover honey and fresh hazelnuts. Dry, racy and very persistent on the palate, finishing saline and long. Totally deserving of the Trophy for Best Sparkling at this year's Geelong Wine Show'.

91 Points, Huon Hooke, The Real Review - 'Light colour with a fresh bread/brioche and meringue bouquet, the wine soft and grapy in the mouth with a tickle of sweetness, the flavour bright and straightforward, concluding with a balanced trace of grip. A very attractive glass of sparkling chardonnay'.
